History of the Funeral Pricing Code
How the Code was developed
Investigations into the funeral industry found a lack of price transparency of funeral goods and services. This was reported in:
To address this, a code of practice was introduced under the Fair Trading Act 2010 (WA). The Code sets rules on how prices are given to consumers.
Initial consultation
In 2022, public consultation on the draft Code took place. It asked for feedback on the proposed rules and how they would work in practice.
Consumer Protection surveyed funeral industry members and consumers. Additional industry meetings were held to collect further feedback.
