Residential parks law review

Status: Public consultation now closed

The public consultation phase of the review is now closed. 

Consumer Protection will review submissions and surveys and prepare a statutory review report with recommendations submission to the Minister for Commerce. 

Once the Statutory Review report is finalised it will be tabled by the Minister for Commerce in both Houses of Parliament.

Consumer Protection will send email bulletins to subscribers with the outcomes of the review and a link to the published report.

Topics covered in the review

The review follows the tenancy lifecycle of long-stay tenants and explores issues at each stage including:

Before the Tenancy 

  • mandatory disclosure by park operators
  • making an application to a park operator to live in a residential park

During the Tenancy 

  • rent and fees
  • behaviour of long-stay tenants and operators
  • park liaison committees 

Ending the Tenancy

  • termination
  • compensation
