Land Valuers Licensing (Remuneration) Notice 2013 - 18 September 2013

The Minister for Commerce has approved the Land Valuers Licensing (Remuneration) Notice 2013 (the Notice) prescribing the maximum remuneration land valuers can receive for the various valuations and assessments they offer.

The Notice was published in the Government Gazette on 17 September 2013 and comes into effect on 1 October 2013. It includes a Scale of Fees that applies to valuations negotiated by land valuers on or after 1 October 2013.

The Department’s recent action against a motor vehicle repair company for publishing fake online testimonials is a timely reminder of the need to ensure truth in advertising.

A Canning Vale motor vehicle repair company and its Director were fined a total of $33,000 by the Armadale Magistrates Court for posting fake online testimonials.

Product safety bans, recalls and safety standards

Product safety bans, recalls and standards are made to protect consumers from harm.

Product Safety Australia (PSA) has information on product safety, bans, recalls and standards. PSA is run by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. 

Product safety bans 

Products will be banned if they put people at risk of injury, illness, or death. Businesses cannot sell banned products in Australia.

Electronic conveyancing (e-conveyancing) will enable the electronic settlement of real property transactions; the preparation and electronic lodgement of land registry documents; electronic payment of transfer duty and the automatic exchange of funds at the date and time of settlement.

National e-conveyancing should offer benefits by shortening the time taken to register changes in land dealings and improving the data integrity of land registry documents.

Real estate bulletin issue 86 - E-conveyancing is coming to Western Australia

Electronic conveyancing (e-conveyancing) will enable the electronic settlement of real property transactions; the preparation and electronic lodgement of land registry documents; electronic payment of transfer duty and the automatic exchange of funds at the date and time of settlement.

The first national e-conveyancing system has been established by Property Exchange Australia Ltd (PEXA). Currently PEXA is the only provider, but other operators may introduce their own systems at a later date.
