Continuing professional development (CPD) - settlement agents

Last updated: 22 November 2024

Continuing professional development (CPD) training is for people in the settlement industry to improve their knowledge, skills and professionalism. The program also aims to protect consumers and build their confidence in the settlement industry.

The CPD program is part of the licensing framework. All settlement agents must meet the CPD program requirements as it is prescribed by legislation.

Agents are required to:

  • complete six activities per calendar year.
  • keep track of activities attended.

You must still participate in the CPD program if you are lawyer who works as a settlement agent.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in a penalty of up to $5000.
