An in-principle agreement has been secured between the Cook Government, Iplex Australia and several builders to assist Western Australian homeowners impacted by leaking Pro-fit (Typlex 1050) polybutylene pipes.

Over 100 Australians have died due to DIY car maintenance accidents since 2000, with many more hospitalised for injuries. Most fatalities occur when victims are working under a vehicle or using equipment incorrectly.

An unlicensed car dealer who erased more than 700,000 kilometres from the odometer readings of nine vehicles has been convicted and fined $33,000 by the Perth Magistrates Court.  

Urgent warning as iTunes gift card scams surge

Western Australians are being warned about the resurgence of scams involving gift cards, particularly Apple iTunes cards.

So far this year, reports to the WA ScamNet team show 49 victims have lost $115,852 to gift card scams. This exceeds the total loss for 2023 of $68,900. There have also been 61 reports of gift card scam attempts.
