Sometimes you may have the chance to negotiate before you agree, however it is more common for consumers to be offered a ‘standard form contract’, which is the same as those offered to everyone else on a ‘take it or leave it’ basis.

WA job seekers fleeced of $130,300 by employment scam

WA job seekers have fallen victim to an elaborate employment scam and Ponzi scheme that has so far claimed ten victims who have reported losing a total of $130,300.

The largest individual loss reported to WA ScamNet at Consumer Protection was $83,000 with the lowest being $2,400.

A West Perth business sales agent and his company have been fined by the State Administrative Tribunal after making an unauthorised $50,000 withdrawal from the agency’s trust account.

Some Western Australians may be worrying about keeping a roof over their heads, as competition continues to remain high for rental properties right across the state.

Consumer Protection has been fielding enquiries from tenants who have received eviction notices because their landlord plans to sell the home in order to cash-in on rising property prices. Some tenants are also facing the prospect of unemployment, which is adding to the distress that an eviction may cause.
