Privacy collection notice for charitable collections applications and notices under the Charitable Collections Act.
The Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) collects the personal information you provide through forms and transactions under the Charitable Collections Act 1946 (WA) (the Act) for the following purposes:
- assess, process and determine applications, notifications and requests, including licence applications and reporting obligations;
- administer and maintain licence records, and meet legislative, reporting and compliance requirements; and
- communicate with you about your licence or other relevant matters, including providing important information and updates.
In some cases, you may provide personal information about another person (for example, an executive officer, contact person or other person associated with the organisation). You should ensure that you are authorised to provide this information and that, where appropriate, the individual is aware that their personal information has been provided to LGIRS for this purpose.
We may provide this information to:
- any person or body you nominate or authorise;
- relevant government agencies, departments (such as the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission), and internal staff who support service delivery and related regulatory, administrative, communications and education functions; and
- any other person or body where disclosure is authorised or required under the Act, or another written law.
We will not disclose personal information about you to anybody else, unless you have given consent, or we are authorised or required to do so by law.
Providing the information required is necessary to enable LGIRS to administer the Act. If the required information is not provided, or is incomplete or incorrect, LGIRS may be unable to process your application, manage your licence, or action your request.
Please see LGIRS Privacy Policy on our website for more information about how we handle your personal information, how you can request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you, and who to contact if you have a privacy enquiry or complaint.
