Information for tenants
During a tenancy, tenants must use this form to ask the landlord for permission to keep a pet at the property. Tenants should provide as much detail as possible, to help the landlord decide.
Once the tenant has completed the form, they should keep a copy for their own records and give the form to the landlord.
Information for landlords
Once the landlord has received the tenants form 25, they have 14 days to decide how to respond.
The landlord can:
- approve the request
- approve with conditions* or
- refuse the request*.
* Commissioner Approval may be required for some condition and reasons for refusal.
The landlord must respond to the tenant’s request in writing, within 14 days. If the landlord does not respond within 14 days, the pet request is automatically approved.
