Land valuers

A land valuer is someone who estimates the value of land and properties for various purposes, such as sales, purchases, or taxation.

You must hold a licence to be a land valuer in WA. 

Licensing requirements

To apply for a licence, you must:

  • be a person of good character and repute
  • have the required qualifications or practical experience.

Land valuer's assistants

Assistants do not need to be licensed. They must be supervised by a licensed land valuer. 

Unlicensed trading

Anyone who falsely claims to be, or implies they are, a licensed land valuer may be liable for a penalty up to $100,000.

Continuing professional development (CPD)

Consumer Protection does not endorse any specific risk management training course. 

A land valuer should check if there are any accreditation requirements (eg CPD requirements) they may have. Completion of a risk management training course from one provider may not necessarily satisfy the requirements.

The following lists some risk management training providers. There may be other providers not on this list. Please contact the provider for more detail about their courses.

Working interstate and mutual recognition (H2)

If you have a licence from elsewhere in Australia or New Zealand, you may be able to work in WA under automatic mutual recognition (AMR) or you can apply for licence under mutual recognition.
