Motorists and fuel industry participants are being advised that dyes will no longer be required in all unleaded petrol grades in Australia, a change that took effect on 1 August 2021.

Consumers are urged to be aware that numerous websites offering to carry out internet searches for a fee may actually be providing information from government agencies that is publicly available for free or at a much lower cost.

While it might be a seller’s market, we would urge buyers to avoid making hasty decisions they might later regret by doing their own research, asking lots of questions and seeking professional advice. There is no mandatory cooling-off period for real estate contracts in WA, meaning it’s very difficult to back out once a written offer is signed.

A Perth man who offers air conditioning installations and repairs as well as custom-built vehicle trailers has been taking consumers’ money but fails to complete the work or supply any goods or services at all, triggering a public warning from Consumer Protection.

Cooling off period extended and fairer contracts for fitness members

New rules that cover an expanded fitness industry in WA are now in effect, giving consumers a longer cooling off period, clearer contracts and notice prior to automatic renewals.

STA Travel in administration – advice for affected consumers

Consumer Protection has issued advice for customers who are still owed money by student travel agency STA Travel Pty Ltd which has today gone into external administration.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Consumer Protection has received 27 complaints against STA Travel.  15 consumers received full or partial refunds, 7 received credits and the remaining five were not able to be resolved.
