From Monday 2 July 2018 our cashier counter services will be located on Level 1 at 303 Sevenoaks Street, Cannington WA 6107.

Payments will no longer be accepted at 140 William Street.

This includes payments for:

  • Licence and registration applications;
  • Tenancy bonds; and
  • Associations, cooperatives and partnership applications.

Some licensing services may be lodged online on our website at www.consumerprotection.wa.gov.au.

Retailers must deal with warranty claims

Consumer Protection is concerned that some WA retailers are referring customers with warranty claims to the manufacturer when it is their responsibility under consumer law.

There have been a high number of calls in recent months to the Department from consumers complaining that some retailers are not taking responsibility when faulty goods are returned.

While manufacturers have obligations to ensure their goods are not faulty, the sales contract is between the retailer and their customer.

Licence not current? No CPD points

You must be the holder of a current certificate of registration or triennial certificate to attend the mandatory Compulsory Professional Development (CPD) training.

If your triennial certificate or certificate of registration is not valid at the time of completing a mandatory CPD training session, then you risk not being accredited with the mandatory CPD points. Accordingly, prior to making a booking at a mandatory CPD session, please ensure your certificate is current.
