Pool safety - its everyone's responsibility 

When a property has a pool, spa or portable pool it’s important to ensure full compliance with safety requirements to prevent drowning deaths and injury to young children.

According to the Royal Life Saving National Drowning Report 2019, 19 children under the age of four drowned in Australia between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019. Twelve of the 19 drowned in a swimming pool.

Reminder - 2019 audit report deadline approaching!

All agents who hold a current triennial certificate and have held or received monies in trust during the 2019 calendar year must lodge an audit report with the Commissioner for Consumer Protection by 31 March 2020.

Agents who have not held or received monies in trust during 2019 should submit a Declaration of no receipt of trust funds - real estate and business agents in lieu of an audit report.

A Bill was passed by the Parliament in September 2019 which amends parts of the Real Estate and Business Agents Act 1978 (the REBA Act) from 1 January 2020. This bulletin provides a brief overview of the changes.

New Residential tenancy laws

The Consumer Protection Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 passed through parliament recently, bringing changes to the REBA Act and residential tenancy laws.

These changes to the REBA Act mean that you will need to meet your annual compulsory professional development (CPD) requirements every calendar year or face potential enforcement action.
